Seth Rogen creativity wisdom:
Seth Rogen founded a smoking accessories company called Houseplant.
The business sells thoughtfully designed ashtrays, lighters, light fixtures, and matches—oversized matches.
“These matches are funny because they were a printing error,” Rogen said in an interview. “Like, we did not intend to make matchbooks this big,” he held up a very large, comically large, yellow matchbook and looked at the camera. “This… this was a mistake.”
The matches were three, maybe four times bigger than average. I smirked when he pulled them out of their packaging.
“And then we saw them,” said Rogen, “and were like, that’s actually really cool… we should embrace that.”
I nodded at the tv.
“And that’s a creative lesson for all of you,” he said.
I kept nodding as I pulled out my phone to write this.
